Best-of-Class Technology Gives Physician Groups More Time for Patient Care

Laserfiche has partnered with CompONE Services, Ltd. to offer a hosted version of its document management solution. CompONE provides physician groups with technology hosting, which they refer to as “technology leasing.” With technology leasing, physician groups interested in converting from paper to electronic healthcare delivery systems, but lacking the resources and/or infrastructure to support self-hosted applications, have a simple and cost-effective alternative.

For many healthcare providers, the obstacle to adoption of electronic solutions is the need for internal IT staff and underlying infrastructure. CompONE developed an effective way to encourage use of innovative technology; the medical office solution provider uses proprietary technologies to integrate three essential components of patient record management—practice management, document management, and electronic medical records (EMR)—and offers the complete solution on a hosted/leasing basis.

CompONE helps physician groups overcome the ever-evolving technology challenges they face, providing them with inexpensive, fully supported, best-of-class systems from Laserfiche for document management and Misys Healthcare Systems for practice management and EMR solutions. CompONE also offers their own hosted proprietary EMR software, ChartBytes™ integrated with Laserfiche document management and Misys Healthcare practice management as a lower cost alternative to more expensive EMR systems, therefore offering physicians with a “Total Practice Document Solution.” These systems combined offer a host of functionalities that address the needs and concerns of today’s physician practices, provide improved clinical quality, and create operational efficiencies. Physicians can focus on treating patients without having to deal with maintenance or upgrade issues.

According to CompONE customer, Colorado Surgical Service, “It was easy to customize ChartBytes into a version of our medical records that looks familiar to our physicians and support staff. With ChartBytes, the medical record is accessible at all times." Colorado Surgical Service added, "As medical records are scanned in, more space becomes available in our office for other vital office records, providing even more space and quick access."

CompONE’s client base is predominantly physician groups – about 1,300 across the U.S. But the nation’s fifth largest hospice provider is also a client. According to CompONE Chief Executive Officer, J. Paul O’Haro, “Our goal is to make the business and operations side of medicine function better.” He added, “If medical professionals don’t have to focus on that piece, they have more time to spend on their patients and provide better patient care.”

“We’ve been able to go beyond billing services to offer technical platforms that allow us to do more for our clients,” said Rex Power, CompONE vice president of Information Services. “A lot of the physician groups don’t have the expertise in house for the newest technologies coming out, and we can fill that void for them.”

“We are pleased to offer Laserfiche as a document management solution for CompONE’s clients,” said Mauricio Pinto, Laserfiche’s director of Healthcare Solutions. “Not only does the combined offering facilitate the transition to electronic medical records for many providers, it highlights the key role of interoperability in today’s healthcare application environment. Physicians should be able to use the combination of applications that make the most sense for their particular practice.”
