Zynx Kicks-Off Pilot Focused on Healthcare Reform

Zynx Health, a provider of evidence-based and experience-based clinical decision support solutions, said it is kicking-off of a pilot program that addresses a new focus on healthcare reform and prepares for accountable care organizations (ACOs).

Most experts believe that the critical success factor for succeeding in a reformed healthcare system will be reducing undesirable variations in care and the ability to influence clinical decisions. It is believed that 80% to 90% of healthcare costs are directly or indirectly influenced by clinical decisions, and quality outcomes are dependent on the quality of clinical decisions. Clinical decision support is the scalable and a sustainable approach to influencing clinical decisions.

Five healthcare organizations will partner with Zynx to pilot a new service and software solution that analyzes their clinical decision support and provides recommended tactics for them to implement as they strive to become accountable for cost and quality outcomes as outlined in the recent Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. The five pilot sites are: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Texas, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center in Washington, St. Joseph Health System in California and Texas, and WellStar Health System in Atlanta.

Zynx Health has developed an offering of products and services geared towards supporting healthcare organizations as they work to optimize clinical decision support to improve mortality rates, readmission rates, hospital length of stay, and total healthcare costs. The pilot program will assess hospitals’ clinical processes and workflows to identify key clinical processes required to become more efficient and effective.

The pilot will also identify potential barriers to clinical decision support adoption.
