Centers for Medicare, Medicaid Look to Designate Test EHRs

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is looking for “CMS designated test EHRs.” So reports Fierce EMR.

The new test EHRs will satisfy Measure 3 of Meaningful Use Stage 2's transition of care objective. Under the objective, eligible professionals and hospitals must successfully exchange one or more summary of care documents electronically.

The recipients on the other end must also use EHR technology, but it needs to be designed by a different developer. Or, they can use using test EHRs (as designated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) during the reporting period to conduct successful tests.
