EHRs Increase Positive Outcome for Stroke Patients

Stroke patients treated in an emergency room that uses electronic health records with clinical decision support and computerized physician order entry (CPOE) are more likely to have a positive outcome. So reports Fierce EMR.

The findings come after a survey conducted by Kaiser Permanente Division of Research, and recently published in the Annals of Emergency Medicine. Emergency departments that had a special order set for stroke patients in the CPOE were more likely to administer the clot dissolving IV than those without the order set.
