During its meeting coverage, MedPage Today's onsite news team, comprising reporters and video team, feeds the press conference video to the company's broadcast center in Little Falls, New Jersey, allowing MedPage Today to present for the first time the press conferences live in their entirety and then make them available on demand for viewers to access at their discretion.

Robert Stern, President and CEO of MedPage Today, explained, "It seemed that perhaps the most dynamic and engaging part of a medical meeting was being missed. The press conferences generally offer the most important research and are presented by the investigators themselves in front of the press, which often creates a lively interchange to elicit the most important features of the study and the expected disease and patient impact."

Stern continued to point out that "technology limitations and, frankly, the lack of a full-time medical news gathering organization before MedPage Today was launched made the task very challenging."

MedPage Today's technical team worked with two technology companies to develop a hardware and software package that fits into a briefcase, making the broadcast capability portable yet able to produce a high-quality video picture and sound.

Stern added that the reaction from both MPT viewers and annual meeting organizers has been positive and enthusiastic.

MedPage Today will continue to provide this feature, available only on www.MedPageToday.com, and will announce upcoming meeting press coverage as new meetings are added to the MPT coverage schedule.
