West Michigan Orthopaedics Practice Manager Finds Ease of Use, Time Savings
Sage Software Healthcare, Inc. has announced that West Michigan Orthopaedics, a two-site orthopedic specialty organization based in Grand Rapids, Mich., is moving to the Intergy by Sage practice management system from its predecessor, The Medical Manager by Sage.
The three-physician group had been on The Medical Manager since 1994, according to Practice Manager Heather Duhr. While the product provided her with the information she needed to manage the organization, exporting and capturing that data was time consuming in the older practice management system. Now, Duhr will obtain the same information for her physicians with a just few clicks.
“I am constantly exporting data which is valuable for our business,” Duhr said. “With Intergy, I get all the data I need at the click of a button. I really like The Medical Manager, but when I viewed Intergy in use at another practice, I knew it was the right system for us.”
Duhr notes the value of analysis. She examines everything from referring physician orders, to fee schedules and updates, to the practice’s top 20 codes. It’s critical information for the organization’s growth.
Perhaps even more importantly, Intergy is more in line with what their newer physicians expect.
“We have newer physicians now on board,” Duhr said. “They want to do more work outside of the office, and to view data from home or the hospital.” With the Intergy by Sage practice management system, the physicians can have access – access to demographics, calendars, schedules – from any place.
“It’s the driving force for new systems,” Duhr adds. “Today’s physicians want patient information at their fingertips.”
Duhr didn’t take the decision lightly, however. She reviewed a number of HIT systems from other companies. She came back to Sage Software in large part due to the service she’s received from the company – and its predecessors – through the years.
“I know what service issues loom out there with some of vendors,” Duhr said. “I think what completely sets Sage Software apart is their support. I haven’t had the problems some of my peers are experiencing because Sage has continually worked to resolve any problems or issues that may arise.”
According to Sage Software executives, it’s that level of commitment, of partnership with its customers, that the company is committed to continuing for the long-haul.
“West Michigan Orthopaedics is a solid partner, and we’re focused on enhancing their business,” said Sharon Howard, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sage Software Healthcare, Inc. “Our commitment to them extends far beyond the point of sale. We pride ourselves on working with our customers through the decades – through their evolution and our own.”
