With Snap, doctors can eliminate paper patient information forms. When a patient arrives for their visit, they are handed an iPad preloaded with Snap. Using the iPad keyboard, the patient fills out all their relevant medical data. Once the patient returns Snap to the front desk, the information can be transferred to the practice’s existing medical records system.
There is no photocopying, scanning, or retyping of data needed. There are also no paper documents to shred documents. According to Perez, practices typically see a return on their investment in less than three months.
While developing Snap, Perez found there were no standardized set of health information forms. Seamless hopes to change that. Currently Seamless offers forms for Family Care and Primary Care with additional forms for specialty practices in development.
The display is bright with a layout that is intuitive and easy to navigate. It is also helpful for patients who find it difficult to hold a pen. The default answer for the medical questions is no. The patient must click yes to indicate the presence of a condition or symptom.
After the patient has completed all the forms, Snap electronically captures the patients’ signature and stores it. Snap is HIPPA compliant and it meets Meaningful Use requirements.
Set Up
A practice can have Snap set up and ready for patients to use within 20 minutes. According to Perez, it typically takes the staff only 5 to 10 patients to fully master the Snap system.
The software dashboard is located under the SnapDash and it gives the staff access to all the pertinent patient information. From the dashboard, the staff can access the patient information, cut, copy and paste the information into other medical records. The staff also uses the dashboard to access the controls for the Snap system.
Additional Items
Through a partnership with the Mayo Clinic, Seamless can offers patients customized healthcare information via Snap. While the patient is in the waiting room, they can view the brochures on the iPad. Snap also allows the patients to make notes about the information and email copies of the information to themselves or others.
It is even possible to have current magazine subscriptions available on the Snap iPad.
Requirements
It is available as a free download from the Apple store (note there is a per encounter charge). Aside from iPads, no other hardware is required. However, the practice must have a secure wi-fi available. The standard number of iPads Perez recommends is two per exam room
