Handheld Medical Reference
For many doctors, their Smart phone or Blackberry is so much more then
just a phone. Sure, in the beginning these devices were simply a way
for a doctor to remain organized even with their sometimes-hectic
schedule, but as the size of the memory increased on these devices so
did their capabilities.
Now physicians count on these devices to provide them with instant access to diagnostic and reference material. These reference services are available from a number of vendors. One such vendor, Pepid Medical Information Resources has strived to create a product that can be used not only by physicians but also pharmacists, medical students, and nurses.
One of the primary goals of Pepid or any medical reference software is to provide quick and easy access to information that medical professionals need for their day-to-day activities. This information must be available from anywhere via PDA or other handheld device. To that end Pepid has a myriad of suites available, and each one is tailored to a specific doctors need and each is downloadable to the device of the doctors choice.
For example, there are modules tailored to Emergency Physicians, Pediatric Physicians and a specific Clinical Rotation module. Pepid also strives to provide nurses with a wide range or nursing modules from Critical Care Nursing to Gerontological Nursing.
With the ability to download a specific Drug Interaction module or the Portable Drug Companion, doctors can have valuable drug reference material right at hand. If any questions do arise about the specific dosage a Medical Calculator module can answer them with a tough of a button. Pepid also provides a Lab Test module which can help a physician choose the best lab tests to diagnose a patient or help the doctor interpret the results of a test.
For added convenience Pepid now allows access via the Internet. This means that a physician or practice can have access to a full screen version of all the Pepid reference materials too. Allowing staff members who may not have access to handheld devices access to the Pepid Reference Library. To further help physicians remain current; Pepid has even rolled out an SD Memory card subscription that allows doctors to just plug the memory card into the device to receive the latest updates. No more waiting for downloads to complete or making time to do synchronization.
