Mobile Dictation
Being able to dictate patient encounters into the PDA of their choice can save doctors a whole lot of time and increase their overall productivity. With mobile dictation, doctors can record the results of the patient encounter immediately. This means instead of having a giant pile of dictation files to complete at the end of the day the doctor can use that time to focus on other tasks. It also means that doctors no longer have to spend half their day hunting for a dictation station.
A mobile application gives doctors the freedom to dictate en route to another patient or even while in the room with the patient. Recording the results of patient encounter while the information is fresh in the doctor’s mind can greatly reduce medical errors. Packages such as IQ Speak and PhysAssist IQ available for the Blackberry and iPhone allow the doctor to not only have mobile dictation capabilities but they also have mobile access to patient scheduling information and other information. This keeps the physician informed of any scheduling changes, which can be very helpful and time saving for physicians that rotate between different clinics.
Another benefit of having the patient information integrated into the dictation software is that it gives the doctor one click access to the patient record. The doctor simply selects the patient from the patient list and begins dictation. Finally, the doctor doesn’t have to enter complicated patient numbers to begin dictation. After the dictation is complete it is uploaded to the transcriptionist, after it is transcribed it is merged into the patient’s medical record.
With the PhysAssist IQ software once the transcription is complete, the information is then available via PC or mobile device to anyone who needs it. The IQSpeak is HIPAA compliant and interfaces with most transcription systems. PhysAssist IQ also gives the user visual alerts, and access to detailed information such as lab reports, medications, and vitals. http://www.iqmax.com/
