In response to widespread physician discontent with electronic health records (EHRs) that lack usability and interoperability as necessary features, the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) announced they will hold a virtual town hall meeting to give physicians and others a chance to discuss concerns with poorly designed EHRs and the impact these systems have on patient care.

The market for electronic health and medical records (EMRs) is set to experience rapid growth over the coming years, with EMR peer group value estimated to climb from approximately $10.6 billion in 2012 to $17 billion by 2017, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.8%, according to research and consulting firm GlobalData.
