Epic Cost Overruns for Arizona Health Network

The University of Arizona Health Network, the largest health network in Tucson, is reporting a $28.5 million dollar operating loss. So reports the Arizona Daily Star.

The network blames a majority of the deficit on the costs associated with implementing their new electronic medical record system. The system from Epic, costs an estimated $115 million, including $32 million in unbudgeted costs due to a delay in going live with the system that required additional training and support.
