Researchers Using Wearable to Track Recovery Times

Researchers at Northwestern Medicine are studying how wearable fitness trackers could be used as part of a universal recovery evaluation. So reports Fierce Mobile Healthcare.

The team outfitted spinal surgery patients with a Fitbit four weeks prior to the surgery and required them to wear the device until six months after the surgery. The data collected allowed doctors to see how activity is regained during recovery. Researchers believe they will be able to use the data to predict when a patient will be back to certain activity levels.
