Clinical Decision Support Reduces Unnecessary Tests

A new study in the Annals of Medicine finds that an electronic health record system with clinical decision support (CDS) can reduce the number of imaging tests ordered. So reports Fierce EMR.

The study funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs reviewed 23 studies on the effectiveness of CDS in preventing over-testing, with 21 studies proving there is a link between CDS and a reduction in unnecessary tests.
