FDA Launches Medical Device Website

The Food and Drug Administration has launched a medical device tracking database. So reports Government Health IT.

The database, known as Global Unique Device Identification Database (AccessGUDID), has been in the works since 2012. AccessGUDID will contain unique device identification for devices sold in the U.S. The database will let users track the device from manufacturing and distribution to patient use. The database will be open to the public and let users search and download information.
