VA Changes Irk Anesthesiologists

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) is coming out against proposed changes in the roles of advanced practice nurses at the Veterans Administration sites. So reports UPI.

The Department of Veterans Administration wants to use certified registered nurse anesthetist instead of anesthesiologists, citing a shortage. The ASA claims that there is no shortage of anesthesiologists and using registered nurse anesthetists could lower the standard of care for veterans.
