Postpartum women benefit from follow up care text messages, according to a new study by the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. So reports Fierce Mobile Healthcare.

Preeclampsia is a serious condition that is requires blood pressure monitoring in postpartum women, but often these same women are at home with their newborns and may not be able to make it to an office visit to have their blood pressure checked.

Text messages that prompt these women to use remote blood pressure monitoring devices can help forestall the condition.
