Half of the physicians in the United States suffered from at least one symptom of professional burnout, according to a 2014 study by the Mayo Clinic. At least some of the physician stress can be traced back to electronic health records. Many physicians feel stressed and annoyed at the amount of time it takes to properly document using the electronic records.
It has been suggested that finding a way to truly automate some of the clerical duties could relieve some of the stress on doctors.
