Initiate Systems Introduces Initiate Payer Data Management

Initiate Systems, Inc., a leader in data management solutions that enable the exchange of health information, has introduced Initiate® Payer Data Management. This solution helps healthcare payers reduce costs by improving administrative efficiencies through streamlined claims processing. It also enables more informed decision-making by increasing the transparency of provider and member data.

Administrative functions are responsible for as much as 20 percent of payer expenses through member enrollment and front-end claims processing and management. Initiate Payer Data Management helps healthcare payer organizations provide access to a patient’s lifetime information across all points of service, lowering administrative costs by reducing time spent tracking down information residing in disparate systems. Initiate Payer Data Management delivers trusted and accurate member and provider information to the systems that need it, contributing to a reduction in the instances of duplicate tests administered or claims that are rejected or suspended.

“Initiate’s proven technology helps healthcare payers provide greater transparency in terms of costs and availability of services as more members contract directly rather than through employers,” said Bill Conroy, CEO and president of Initiate Systems. “Consumers are becoming savvier about shopping for healthcare plans. Healthcare payers are responding by using technology to drive costs out of the process, especially for activities that don’t contribute to customer service.”

By providing visibility to complex relationships across members, policies, providers and their contracts, healthcare payers can derive insights to adapt to changing member needs and improve interactions with members and providers.

“Initiate Payer Data Management is innovative in its ability to manage relationships between members, providers and claims for use in advanced analytics to design new products and services for their member and provider communities,” said Brian Vile, vice president, Product Strategy, Initiate Systems. “This enables payers to be more responsive to the changing market.”

Initiate’s proven solutions are in use today in more than 185 organizations worldwide including independent delivery networks (IDNs), regional health information organizations (RHIOs), retail pharmacies and government health agencies. In addition, four of the largest payers in the U.S. use Initiate technology to reduce costs, streamline claims processing and improve member and provider satisfaction.

In October 2008, BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners, L.P., a corporate venture fund that is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, and Sandbox Industries made a $5-million investment in Initiate Systems, Inc. The fund invests in technologies, products and services in the U.S. healthcare industry that promote efficiency, lower costs and improve options for consumers.
