IntrinsiQ’s IntelliScribe E-prescribe Oncology Solution

reviewsimageIntrinsiQ’s IntelliScribe (www.intrinsiq.com ) is the first integrated e-prescribe solution that allows oncologists to manage complex chemotherapy drug orders. IntelliScribe integrates with IntelliDose, clinical management software for oncology practices. The software uses RelayHealth’s eScript to allow the physician to electronically file medication orders.

In Use
The IntelliScribe application allows a physician to electronically prescribe all aspects of a patient’s treatment from pre-medications to take-home support medications. The system allows for specifying oral chemotherapy or using a combination with infused medications. All information is automatically updated in the patient’s record. This software creates a detailed complete record of the patient’s entire drug regimen.

Technology employed
The requirements needed to run the Relay Health specifications for IntelliScribe includes Internet access through DSL or Cable modem. Any workstation accessing the software must have Internet access. RelayHealth supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and higher. It supports Firefox 2.x or higher and Safari 2.x on Mac OS 10.4 or higher.

Ease of use, configuration, and deployment
The IntelliScribe software is easy to use, configure and deploy. It is well designed and the layout allows for seamless navigation through the entire system. There are online resources and support available to assist with deploying and learning the software.

Recap
IntelliScribe allows the user to submit prescriptions at any point during the order review. The user can use the flowchart which allows the prescriber an overview of the patient’s entire therapy. It includes everything from medications, lab results, toxicity information and any other vital pieces of patient information. It also has the ability to electronically receive and respond to renewal requests or pharmacy refills.

IntelliScribe allows the prescriber to manage all treatments in a single system and provides a comprehensive patient treatment record. Pricing for this application starts at $50 per month and depends on the volume of patients the practice has.

Advantages
  • User Friendly
  • Customizable
  • Seamless Integration

Disadvantages
  • Additional hardware or add-ons may boost the initial cost of the system.

My Opinion
IntelliScribe is comprehensive software that electronically generates prescriptions and automatically adds new information to the patient’s record. Because this is an integrated system it allows the users to keep a complete up to date record on the patient. This is an effective and efficient way to have all vital oncology patient information in one location. I would recommend this software to any size oncology practice that wants to improve its work flow and patient satisfaction.
