Tech Tip: Passport eCare May Help Boost Patient Engagement, Revenue Cycle

Passport eCare, now part of Experian, offers healthcare providers several options to increase their patient engagement and revenue cycle.

In addition to a claims management suite and a patient access suite, which verifies patient eligibility upfront, Passport eCare offers a patient engagement suite. The Passport eCare Patient Engagement Suite is a self-service portal for patients.

From the portal patients can access PatientSimple, which lets them manage their accounts. It also offers everything from the ability to ePay to asking for payment arrangements. It can even provide the patient with an upfront estimate prior to a visit or procedure.

By offering patients an online portal where they can update insurance information, request estimates or consolidated bills and schedule their appointments, you can eliminate the need to have multiple staff members available to take phone calls regarding these issues.

Patients are happy because the patient portal offers 24/7 access, so they can take care of these tasks when it is convenient for them, not just when your business office is open. The PatientVisit component of the suite lets patients schedule appointments, pre-register and access discharge instructions.

In addition, the Patient FastPass component of the patient engagement suite is optimized for use with mobile devices such as iPad3, iPhone5, Microsoft Surface and Samsung Galaxy. That means patients can check-in, verify their insurance and deductible, and electronically sign documents all from their mobile device.

Another component, SmartStatement, lets you offer your patients the ability to consolidate all billing communications into one easy to understand statement. Plus, the Passport eCare portal offers PatientGive, a fundraising platform. This allows your patients to set up a personal fundraiser to request donations to cover their medical bills.

eCare also offers medical practices peace of mind. They can protect their patient portal and comply with Stage 2 of Meaningful Use security requirements with PreciseID and FraudNet. PreciseID is a multi-layered portal security that authenticates patients and reduces risk during enrollment and ongoing portal access.
