UCLA researchers determined that physician partners can save doctors a significant amount of time during the day. So reports Health Data Management.

A physician partner works along side the doctor during patient visits, performing tasks such as EHR data entry.

Additionally, physician partners participate in other aspects of the practice such as processing medication refill, updating medication lists and providing patients with their visit summaries.

The physician partners were most effective in geriatric practices, saving an average of 2.8 minutes per appointment.
