Compact Addresses Rural Physician Shortage

Rural areas face a significant physician shortage. So reports The Cortez Journal.

Some areas in Wyoming have only one full-time primary physician for every 5,600 people. In an effort to combat the shortage, seven states are considering entering into a multi-state compact that would make it easier for physicians to get licensed in multiple states.

Physicians who would like to practice in multiple states could pay a small fee and receive an additional license.
