A recent Congressional sub panel meeting on healthcare and technology found that many practices, especially small practices, are struggling to make the switch to electronic records. The sub panel determined that despite incentives, most small clinics still hard a hard time finding the funds to make the switch, reports Government Health IT.

The telemedicine market is growing, with companies such as AT&T and Verizon having already launched telemedicine projects. Several other companies are close to finalizing their own programs, reports Information Week.

Western Health Information Network has received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Pioneer Portfolio for a pilot project to determine if unique identifiers help improve the quality of medical records and if those same identifiers can help patients have more control over their information, according to Healthcare IT News.
