Texas is close enacting a bill to further protect patient privacy, reports the Texas Tribune. The bill, which is currently awaiting vote in the House, prevents the sale of personal health information without the person’s consent. It also includes a process to notify patients when their records are transferred electronically.

A policy statement published by the American Academy of Pediatrics formally suppoarts electronic health records. The statement also calls upon the federal government to help with the conversion from paper to digital, reports Healthcare IT News.
